Night Prayers

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Let us place ourselves in the presence of God and adore Him.

I adore You O my God, with that submission which the presence of Your sovereign grandeur inspires me. I believe in You because You are infinitely good. I love You with my whole heart because You are sovereignty amiable, and I love my neighbour as myself for the love of  You.

Let us thank God for the graces we have received from Him:

What acts of thanksgiving shall I render to You O my God, for all the graces I have received from You. You have thought of me from all eternity, You have drawn me out of nothing, You have given Your life in order to redeem me, and You overwhelm me every day with an infinity of favours. Alas. O Lord, what shall I do in return for so much goodness? Join with me all you blessed spirits in order to praise the God of mercy, Who never ceases to bestow His choicest blessing upon the most unworthy and ungrateful of His creatures.

Let us ask God to enable us discover our sins:

 

O Holy Spirit, Eternal source of light, dispel the darkness, which hides from me the malice and the enormity of sin. Cause me to conceive so great a horror for it, O my God, That I may hate it, if possible, as much as You Yourself hates it, and that I may fear nothing so much as to commit it in the future.

Let us examine our conscience upon the sins, which we have committed against God, our neighbour and against ourselves...

(Pause here awhile)

Act of Contrition

O my God, I am extremely sorry for my sins because they have deserved Your dreadful punishments, because they have displeased You, my God who is infinitely good and with the help of Your Holy Grace I will never more offend You and I will avoid the occasions of sins.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and pardon us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us life everlasting, Amen.

May the Almighty and merciful Lord grant  us pardon, absolution and remission of our sins. Amen.

2nd: To purify the good I have done badly this day and during all my life. Glory be to the Father and to the Son...!
